July monthly round up

July monthly round up

Posted by Sally Bradley on 1st Aug 2017

July has been another crammed packed month for the Cabins Unlimited, both with the sales team and our Norfolk log cabin installers. Catch up with what we have been up to in this months round up blog post.

July started off with the highly anticipated announcement of the winner of our Win a Summerhouse competition over on our Facebook page.  The competition opened on the 24 April to win either a Cotswold Albany summer house or up to £1000 off a log cabin for their garden and all you had to do was like our page, tag a friend and share the post.  The post was shared far and wide over the next couple of months with over 10,000 likes! In fact the competition was so popular keep your eyes peeled over on our social media pages as we might just run it again. The winner was picked using a random comment picker and the winner was announced over on our Facebook page.  The lucky winner was local to our Dereham log cabin display site in Norfolk, and they opted to have the summerhouse as advertised with ProBase providing the firm and level base.  Our Norfolk team of summerhouse super heroes installed the customers new timber building at the end of July ready to enjoy for the rest of the summer holidays and we received some lovely feedback from our lucky winner too...

I just wanted to send a message I say thank you so much for the fantastic summer house that we won. We absolutely love it... The summer house will be enjoyed all year by not just us as a family, but our neighbours children too.

July 16th was a big day in the Dereham community calendar with the Carnival taking place for the second year. The carnival spirit was reignited back in 2016 after a 20 year absence from Dereham following a post on the local community noticeboard on Facebook.   The 2016 was a roaring success and the team promised bigger and better this year and it didn't disappoint!  The object of the Carnival was to bring the community together, raise money for local charities and for everyone to have a great time  As a company that really supports the local community we really wanted to get involved and help the committee create a successful carnival which is why we got behind them by sponsoring the website and the event.  We also took a few  of our sheds and timber buildings over to our stall at the recreation ground, we enjoyed meeting people showing them the wide range of timber buildings we sell and entertaining the kids with a colouring competition to win their very own Beechcroft playhouse

Despite the wet weather, wellie boots and sea of umbrellas the carnival really was a great day and we had over 100 entries to our competition.  It was very hard to choose a winner but after a lot of deliberation over tea and cake we selected 5 year old Jesse as our winner.  We just loved her colourful picture of a young girl playing in her garden in the sunshine, surrounded by beautiful flowers and butterflies, we know that a summerhouse or log cabin can really complete a garden which is why we felt that Jesse should have her very own playhouse to enjoy.  I'm sure you will agree it was a lovely picture and we hope she enjoys many years playing in her own timber Wendy house.

July wasn't just about carnivals and competition winners though, we have installed a wide range of buildings including, the Elgin 4.8m x 3.6m 44mm log Cabin, the Mary 2 log cabin with log store,  the Barbados Mini with additional window, the EV York with shingle tiles, roof and floor insulation and veranda and lots and lots of garden sheds.  Remember though Cabins Unlimited are not just simply log cabins, we can provide a range of other services for your garden too including timber treatment for buildings and outdoor furniture, landscaping, base preparation work, patios and fence work.

July also saw the Norfolk team of installers head out of East Anglia for a combined 6 days at Rock & River outdoor pursuits in Lancashire, this however wasn't an opportunity for team bonding over archery, orienteering or rock climbing it was to fit and install 2 Nottingham 4.5m by 6m multi room log cabins and 3 4m by 3m camping pods.

The Nottingham log cabin comes with 3 main rooms as well as a small loft room accessed by a ladder and comes with 44mm logs as standard and double glazing on the windows and doors.  Rock & River purchased these great buildings to be used as accommodation opting for a timber building as its far more in keeping with their outdoor, natural ethos than a brick built building.  These two Nottingham log cabins were built on ProBase levelled with 20mm pea shingle.  As the buildings were going side by side the customer opted to have them  fitted in mirror image.  To add to the natural insulate qualities of the wood insulation for both the floor and the roof was purchased alongside as well as shingle tiles to protect the roof.  With any of the buildings from the Eurovudas range you can also purchase window and door shutters and an optional veranda as optional extras either along side your cabin or at a later date.

The Camping pods, or as we like to call the Glamping pods are certainly camping with added luxury.  The pod is large enough to accommodate a bed and a few home comforts meaning that you can get back to nature whilst making sleeping on the floor a thing of the past.  Don't think that these pods are just for those that like campfires and the great outdoors though, they would look great in your back garden too as an unique she shed, man cave or garden den.  This customer fitted their camping pods onto raised reclaimed sleepers and shingle tiles in grey hexam.  The shingle tiles from Eurovudas can be purchased in either rectangle design in black, green, grey and red or hexam shape in green grey and red.  The hexam shingles come with a black shadow which I am sure you'll agree really adds to the effect in the images below.  You can find just a few pictures below from the install and check out a video on our social media pages here.

Once again this months post is rounded up with some great images from a recent customer on his finished Brighton 1  log cabin which he has purchased to be used as a summerhouse and has treated in colours that really compliment his garden.

I hope that you have enjoyed July's monthly round up remember if you would like any help choosing your ideal log cabin, garden shed or summerhouse call the team on 01362 470075 or pop over to our Log Cabin Display site in Dereham, Norfolk.  We are located within easy reach of the A47 and are open 7 days a week.
