What timber treatment is best for my needs?

What do we recommend on different surfaces from our Sadolin collection?

Cabins

For our cabins, we use a combination of products. Firstly, for the exterior we use Sadolin Superdec which can be mixed to almost any colour from the Farrow and Ball colour chart available. This has a lifetime of up to 10 years and means that you only need to re-apply it every 10 years and with it being resistant to peeling, blistering and flaking, you shouldn't need to re-apply it earlier. This is great also for the interior walls of the building if you wanted to opt for a colour on the inside as you will want to use a treatment too, not just any paint.

For the floors, we recommend the use of Sadolin Polyurethane which is great for all interior wood, such as skirting, doors, tables, shelves and floors.

Decking

For decking, we have a couple options. For a natural finish that is designed to simply enhance the natural wood and penetrate deep into the timber, we have Sadolin Decking Oil. This is a great product and offers great protection against UV.

Alternatively, we have a 2 in 1 product in the form of Decking Stain & Protector, which does just as it says on the tin, offering even better UV protection due to the stain and colour options available.

Fencing

You can use Sadolin Superdec for fencing like with our cabins however for more sheds and fences, specifically rough sawn timber, we would recommend Sadolin Shed & Fence Woodstain which is rainproof in about 30 minutes, providing a protective barrier against all weather conditions, including UV rays and frost.

Boats

Lastly, Something a bit different but if you need it, we have it! Sadolin Yacht Varnish is an excellent product with a durable high gloss finish that protects timber from UV light and has been formulated to enhance the natural beauty and colour of wood, rather than stain it
